Chic Farmhouse Bathroom Renovation

How did we make a small narrow bathroom feel so spacious?

First, we replaced the swinging entry door with a pocket door.
Next, we partially demolished the wall that separates the vanity and commode, and removed the bulkhead over the vanity.
Lastly, we updated the finishes with paint, tile, and fixtures to personalize and create warmth.

This client lives on a horse farm, but has a large collection of formal antique family heirlooms, so our design plan married the two lifestyles to create this chic and eclectic farmhouse bathroom. At the sink, we strategically used varying shades of gold finishes to add character and balance out the distressed reclaimed wood vanity cabinet. Gold is such an amazing finish because it can be interpreted in so many ways. Click to see the master bedroom and living room transformation.

Smaller bathrooms feel bigger when the floor and wall tiles are oversized! Wall tile is installed all the way to the ceiling in the shower which always helps a bathroom feel more ample. Removing the bulkhead over the vanity also updated the space, while adding gold wall sconces on either side of the mirror provides a softer light source than recessed lights. The Carrera marble top is timeless and beautifully compliments the aged look of the weathered vanity cabinet.

We personalized the bathroom with a side chair and wall art from the client's vast collection which gives this space its charm!
